Explaining the Prophet's statement: Women have been made dear to me

The following is a translation of pages 297 to 303 from the book Mahasin al-Islam wa Radd Shubuhaat al-li’aam.

The following Hadith of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) is used by some to question him:

حُبِّبَ إِلَىَّ مِنَ الدُّنْيَا النِّسَاءُ وَالطِّيبُ وَجُعِلَ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي فِي الصَّلاَةِ

“In your world, women and perfume have been made dear to me, and my comfort has been provided in prayer.’ [Sunan an-Nasa’i 3939]
