Examples of how Islamic courts punish oppressive husbands and sons

Husband who hit pregnant wife handed nine months

Jeddah: The Criminal Court in Jeddah has sentenced a man to nine months in jail for beating his wife and insulting her by calling her “stubborn and ignorant.”
The man has also been required to make a written pledge not to go near his wife, while the victim has been entitled to receive her rights.

A source revealed to Al-Watan newspaper that the woman filed a case in the court against her husband — who she had been separated from for seven months without divorce — detailing his constant violence and physical abuse.
In the latest incident, he beat her to the ground in their home because she was heading to the store, and kicked her in stomach, despite her being five-months pregnant at the time.

“The citizen also lodged a complaint with police, who transferred her to King Fahad Hospital in Jeddah for a checkup,” sources revealed.

“The medical report showed clear signs of abuse, indicating the patient suffered from scars and bruises on her body due to the violent beatings. She needed 15 days to recover.”
Her medical report confirmed that she also suffers from psychological problems, depression and anxiety.

She said her husband previously pulled her hair and hit her head against the wall, forcing her to leave with her seven-year-old son and live in a rented house until her divorce is finalized, sources said. “But her husband found her and beat her.”
