Allah says " So woe to those ......And (those who) withhold [simple] assistance". [Ma`oon] [Qur'an 107: verse 7]
Al-Masudi narrated from Sulayman ibn Kuhayl who reported from Abul-Ubaydin that he asked Ibn Mas`ood (r.a) about what al-Ma`oon is (means): He (r.a) said : It is what the people give to each other (as simple assistance such as) like an axe (to cut wood, etc.) [1] a pot (for water) [2] and similar items [3]

In modern day terms
[1] a bike, or a car, or a phone call
[2] water bottle,
[3] coffee, sugar, pulses to your neighbor etc.
